A 26-year-old woman who was shot in the chest as she answered a knock at her door Thursday morning in Bellingham has been able to talk to police.
Spokesman Mark Young said she's been able to give officers information.
Police said the woman was in satisfactory condition later Thursday.
She says she was shot by a masked man about 9 a.m. when she opened the door to her duplex. She was able to call police.
Officers searched the neighborhood. They interviewed the woman's male roommate and said he is not a suspect.
Young says officers also questioned a person of interest who was at work at the time of the shooting.
Investigators have no one in custody and no known motive, although Young says they are reasonably sure it was not a random attack.
