The Daily Herald says ( http://is.gd/izW9aD) smoke alarms woke a man sleeping inside Wednesday and he climbed out a bedroom window.
Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes says fire crews rescued two sooty, scared dogs.
Damage was estimated at $35,000.
