Police say $500,000 in jewels were stolen from a courier's vehicle Tuesday afternoon when it was parked in a business area on Mercer Island.
Police say the courier from New York was taking a break of less than half an hour when someone broke in and took the jewelry. Surveillance cameras in the area show a dark minivan stopping adjacent to the vehicle.
The jewelry belongs to a wholesale jewelry company in New York City.
