RICHLAND, Wash. —

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee plans to tour the Hanford nuclear reservation on Wednesday with officials from the Energy Department and state Ecology Department.

Inslee wants to learn more about six leaking waste storage tanks and Hanford cleanup work.

Officials announced last week the tanks may be leaking 1,000 gallons a year. Hanford has a total of 177 aging tanks that store millions of gallons of radioactive sludge left over from nuclear weapons production.

Federal officials say there is no immediate threat to public safety.
