Officials at the Washington state Capitol are investigating a letter that arrived at a Capitol office building that contained white powder in the envelope.
Bob Calkins, a spokesman for the Washington State Patrol, said that there have been no evacuations ordered, and that the letter is secured in the security office at John Cherberg Building, which houses Senate offices.
Calkins said he did not yet have information on who the letter was addressed to.
He said that the patrol has requested assistance from a specialized team at the National Guard to help them determine the chemical nature of the substance.
