KELSO, Wash. —

Authorities say officers killed a man who burst from a bedroom and shot at them in West Kelso Saturday.

The Daily News identified (http://bit.ly/ZSuAKy) the man killed was 26-year-old Jesse Ryan McMillan, a former high school football player.

The man wounded a Kelso officer's leg but was treated and released from the hospital.

Police say McMillan was involved in a car crash before the shooting, but fled the scene and hid in an area house. During the investigation, officers learned McMillan had a felony warrant.

McMillan's wife, Kala McMillan, says she called police before the shooting and told them she could talk him out of the house.

Kala McMillan says her husband suffered from mental illness, but was not allowed to take his medication during a recent stint in jail.
