MARYSVILLE, Wash. —

Burglars have cost a Marysville Girl Scout troop about $500 in fundraising items they were saving for a trip to Europe.

The Everett Herald reports (http://bit.ly/13zLuTo) that burglars broke into a Marysville business a week ago where Troop 42047 was using to store donated items slated to be sold at a June garage sale.

The proceeds were to help pay for a trip to Europe in 2014.

Troop co-leader Lisa Samaniego says the cost of the trip is more than many of the girls' families can afford, so the garage sale donations are extremely important.

The burglary was discovered Monday morning and quickly reported to the Marysville Police Department.

The thieves were selective, taking mainly high-end items, such as an Xbox 360, electronic games and tools.
