Erik Muelheims scored 26 points and St. George's earned the school's first Class 2B boys state title with a 50-28 win over defending champion Colfax on Saturday night.
Will Tender added 13 points and Dexter Sienko had 15 rebounds for the Dragons (29-1), whose only loss came to Class 2A champion Pullman.
Brady Ellis scored nine points for the defending-champion Bulldogs (22-8), who dropped their fifth straight game to St. George's this season.
Behind Muelheims' 18 points and five rebounds, St. George's sprinted to a 25-11 halftime lead. Colfax managed to cut the deficit to 27-19 on back-to-back 3-pointers by Ellis, but St. George's answered with a 21-3 run.
Muelheims, a junior guard, finished 9-of-15 from the floor.
Saddled with early foul trouble, Colfax guard and University of Montana-signee Brandon Gfeller, a 22-points-per game scorer, never got into a groove and managed just five points on 2-for-15 shooting.
The day wasn't all bad for Colfax coach Reece Jenkin. Earlier in the day, his wife, Breanne, gave birth to a baby boy.
