St. George's beats Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 55-52

Erik Muelheims scored 21 points and Corey Spalding hit the go-ahead basket as St. George's beat Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 55-52 on Friday to advance to the Class 2B boys state championship game.

SPOKANE, Wash. —

Erik Muelheims scored 21 points and Corey Spalding hit the go-ahead basket as St. George's beat Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 55-52 on Friday to advance to the Class 2B boys state championship game.

Dexter Sienko added 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Dragons (28-1), who will face defending champion Colfax. Colby Starring scored 14 points for the Broncos (22-9), who will play for third place.

After Lind-Ritzville/Sprague grabbed a 52-50 lead on a pair of foul shots by Starring, Spalding buried a corner 3-pointer with 1:55 left for St. George's for a 53-52 lead. After a Lind-Ritzville/Sprague miss, Muelheims sank two foul shots with 15.6 seconds left.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague had two chances in the final seconds to tie but twice missed 3s.

St. George's led 40-28 lead on Muelheims' 3-pointer early in the third. But Lind-Ritzville/Sprague chipped away, and grabbed a 47-46 edge on a steal and layup by Dylan Hartz midway through the fourth quarter.
