Brewster knocks off King's in 1A semifinals

YAKIMA, Wash. —

Chandler Smith scored a game-high 27 points, and Brewster rolled past King's 60-36 in the Class 1A girls state semifinals on Friday.

The victory sends the Bears (25-1) into Saturday's championship game against Castle Rock (26-0).

Monica Landdeck added 18 points and Becky Mae Taylor 10 for the Bears, who built up a 28-11 halftime lead and were never seriously challenged in the second half.

Daylee Hanson led King's with 10 points and Mia Hayek scored nine.

Brewster shot 38 percent (21 of 56) for the game to just 18 percent (11 of 61) for King's.
