Colfax in 2B title game after beating Wahkiakum

Brady Ellis had 17 points and nine rebounds and defending champion Colfax returned Class 2B boys state title game after beating Wahkiakum 53-37 on Friday.

SPOKANE, Wash. —

Brady Ellis had 17 points and nine rebounds and defending champion Colfax returned Class 2B boys state title game after beating Wahkiakum 53-37 on Friday.

Brandon Gfeller added 16 points for the Bulldogs (22-7), who will face either Lind-Ritzville/Sprague or St. George's. Peter Weiler scored 13 points for the Mules (20-8), who will play for third place.

Down by as many as 12 points early, Colfax responded with an 18-2 run capped by Gfeller's driving layup that put the Bulldogs up 34-28 late in the third quarter. The lead grew to 39-31 on Gfeller's 3 with 5 minutes left in the game.

Weiler's nine points staked Wahkiakum to a 20-8 lead midway through the second quarter.

Lars Bix added 10 points and Eli McElroy 12 rebounds for Wahkiakum.
