TACOMA, Wash. —

Peter French scored 10 of Lakeside's first 11 points as the top-ranked Lions rolled past University 69-48 in the first round of the 3A boys tournament Thursday night.

French, a 7-foot senior who averaged 4.4 points during the regular season, finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds for Lakeside (23-4).

The Lions' usual top scorers, D'Marques Tyson and Tremaine Isbell, were relatively quiet. Tyson finished with 13 points while Isbell was just 1 of 14 for five points.

Matthew Poplawski made three 3-pointers in a span of 6 minutes to cap a 15-0 run that gave Lakeside a 34-13 lead in the second quarter.
