River Ridge slips past Burlington-Edison 46-44

Jazzlynn Brewster sank the go-ahead putback with 26 seconds to play and made two free throws with 7 seconds left to lift River Ridge to a 46-44 quarterfinal victory over Burlington-Edison in the Class 2A girls state tournament on Thursday.

YAKIMA, Wash. —

Jazzlynn Brewster sank the go-ahead putback with 26 seconds to play and made two free throws with 7 seconds left to lift River Ridge to a 46-44 quarterfinal victory over Burlington-Edison in the Class 2A girls state tournament on Thursday.

Brewster and Makenna Schultz each scored 12 points to lead the Hawks (20-5).

Mariah Swanson led the Tigers (21-4) with 18 points and eight rebounds. Ellary Torset had 11 points and six rebounds.

River Ridge led B-E 29-22 early in the third quarter but never could shake the Tigers. The game featured 10 ties and seven lead changes.
