Mead beats Skyline 53-33

The Mead steamroller kept rolling Thursday night, as the Panthers breezed past Skyline 53-33 for their 17th consecutive win and a trip to the semifinals of the 4A state girls basketball tournament.

TACOMA, Wash. —

The Mead steamroller kept rolling Thursday night, as the Panthers breezed past Skyline 53-33 for their 17th consecutive win and a trip to the semifinals of the 4A state girls basketball tournament.

Ashlyn Lewey led the Panthers (23-1) with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Jade Redmon added 12 points and eight boards.

Mead jumped out to a 22-3 lead after one quarter, was up 34-12 at the half and led by as many as 27 points in the second half.

Rachel Shim had 16 points for Skyline (20-6). The Spartans shot 21 percent from the field for the game.
