Renton holds on late to beat Wapato 38-34
Jordan Armstrong scored 13 of her game-high 16 points in the first half as Renton pulled out to an early lead and turned back Wapato late for a 38-34 quarterfinal victory Thursday in the Class 2A girls state tournament.

Jordan Armstrong scored 13 of her game-high 16 points in the first half as Renton pulled out to an early lead and turned back Wapato late for a 38-34 quarterfinal victory Thursday in the Class 2A girls state tournament.
Armstrong hit 6 of 14 shots in the first half, when the Indians (21-4) pulled out to a 21-11 lead at the half. Wapato (21-3) closed the margin in the second half, but couldn't get closer than the final. Taylor Farris added nine points for Renton.
Justine Sosa led Wapato with 14 points and nine rebounds, and Briana Cordova also pulled down nine rebounds.
Renton shot 36 percent (15 of 42) in the game, while Wapato made just 27 percent (15 of 56), including just 18 percent (5 of 28) in the first half.
