TACOMA, Wash. —

Lindsay Brown had 13 points and nine rebounds, and Arlington overcame missing the front end of 1-and-1's twice in the final 46 seconds, as the Eagles held on for a 43-40 win over Gonzaga Prep in a first-round game of the 4A state girls basketball tournament Thursday.

Arlington (21-4) took a 10-point lead on Taylor Grahm's 3-pointer in the closing seconds of the third quarter but barely escaped a Gonzaga Prep rally down the stretch. The Bullpups (22-4) missed two shots in the final 22 seconds, including a 3-pointer that fell short at the buzzer.

Laura Stockton had a team-high 12 points for Gonzaga Prep, which made just 2 of 16 shots from three-point range.

Arlington overcame 17 turnovers in the win.
