St. George's outlasts Morton-White Pass 73-69

Dexter Sienko scored 10 of his game-high 28 points in overtime as St. George's beat Morton-White Pass 73-69 on Thursday to advance to the semifinals of the Class 2B boys state tournament.

SPOKANE, Wash. —

Dexter Sienko scored 10 of his game-high 28 points in overtime as St. George's beat Morton-White Pass 73-69 on Thursday to advance to the semifinals of the Class 2B boys state tournament.

Will Tender scored 19 points and Cody Peplinski had 12 for the Dragons (27-1). Kalen Dunlap had 18 points before fouling out for the Timberwolves (22-4), who will play in a loser-out game.

With St. George's clinging to a 68-67 lead, Sienko converted a three-point play after taking a length-of-the-court pass and scoring on a driving layup with 11.8 seconds left. After Kalep Poquette scored with 4.9 seconds remaining for Morton-White Pass, Sienko sealed it at the line with two foul shots.

Down by 1 in the closing seconds of regulation, Morton-White Pass had a chance to win when Jesse Eveland was fouled on a putback attempt with .4 seconds left. Eveland missed the first foul shot but made the second to force overtime.

Sienko also grabbed 18 rebounds for St. George's.

Kalep Poquette added 14 points for Morton-White Pass.
