Brewster takes down Lynden Christian 61-56

YAKIMA, Wash. —

Chandler Smith led four Brewster players in double figures with 16 points as the Bears beat Lynden Christian 61-56 on Thursday in the Class 1A girls state quarterfinals.

Brette Boesel and Becky Mae Taylor each added 13 points and Monica Landdeck 11 as the Bears built a 54-38 lead early in the fourth quarter and held off the Lyncs down the stretch.

Brewster (24-1) shot 50 percent (12 of 24) in the second half, and made 43 percent (23 of 53) of its shots in the game. LC (23-4) made 33 percent (18 of 54).

Kayla Tiemersma led the Lyncs with 15 points and six rebounds. Courtney Hollander scored 12 points and Sara Dougan 11.
