Garfield races past Bothell 62-50

TACOMA, Wash. —

Held to one field goal in the first half, Garfield senior Tucker Haymond scored 17 points over the final two quarters leading the Bulldogs past Bothell 62-50 on Thursday in the Class 4A quarterfinals at the Tacoma Dome.

Haymond, who has signed with Western Michigan, finished with 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists for Garfield (24-1), which beat Bothell (21-4) for the third time this season.

The Bulldogs, who overcame a four-point halftime deficit by holding Bothell to three points in the third quarter, advance to the semifinals against Curtis (25-2). The Cougars will play Newport (18-9) in a consolation game.

Garfield senior Trevaunté Williams finished with a double-double, scoring 21 points to go with 12 rebounds.

UCLA-bound senior Zach LaVine led Bothell with 16 points, while junior Josh Martin finished with seven points and 15 rebounds.
