Wilson continues win streak beating Mercer Island

TACOMA, Wash. —

Wilson made the most of its first trip to the state quarterfinals since 1993, knocking off Mercer Island 48-37 on Thursday at the Tacoma Dome.

The Rams (22-2) will play Seattle Prep (22-5) in the Class 3A semifinals at 3:45 p.m. Friday.

Tia Briggs and Bethany Montgomery led Wilson with 11 points apiece, while Violet Morrow finished with nine points and nine rebounds.

Mercer Island (22-8) has been one of the surprise teams of the season after finishing with five wins a year ago. The Islanders were led by senior Kris Brackmann, who finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Freshman guard Jess Blakeslee had seven points and seven rebounds for Mercer Island.

Wilson is now 11-0 since falling to Cleveland on Jan. 21.
