Seattle police released information Thursday on the fatal shooting Tuesday evening of a 21-year-old man by officers responding to a report of the man holding a knife to his father's throat.
Police said dispatchers received two calls from brothers of Jack Keewatinawin about what one called a hostage situation at their north Seattle home.
The father moved to safety but as officers were trying to arrest Keewatinawin he threatened them with an 18-inch long piece of metal rebar. Three officers fired, killing him.
Police found the knife at the scene.
