SPOKANE, Wash. —

Police and parents of students at Hamblen Elementary School in Spokane are keeping a closer eye on children after a reported attempted abduction.

A 9-year-old girl says a man grabbed her shoulder Tuesday morning outside the school and said her parents didn't want her to go to school and that he was supposed to drive her home.

KXLY reports ( http://bit.ly/15PTnDm) the girl ran inside the school unharmed.

The school sent a letter home to parents saying they shouldn't let children walk alone. The school district's resource officer says people should report anyone who looks suspicious.
