The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is helping the Vancouver fire and police departments investigate the Feb. 3 fire that destroyed Crestline Elementary School.
Investigators are sifting through the rubble, asking teachers what they had in their rooms and questioning first responders about what they saw as they arrived.
The Columbian reports ( http://bit.ly/Ywi42w) the ATF is reconstructing part of the building at the National Fire Research Laboratory in Gaithersburg, Md., to examine a fire in a controlled setting.
It could take months to determine the cause of the three-alarm fire.
The school district has moved Crestline's 500 students into other schools.
