ENUMCLAW, Wash. —

A King County sheriff's search and rescue team is bringing down two snowmobilers who became stranded in whiteout conditions in the Cascades east of Enumclaw, near Mount Rainier.

Deputy William Akers said searchers found the two late Monday night. He says they do not appear to be injured.

Rescuers planned to help them out of the mountains as soon as possible, but it's a long walk from the 5,000-foot elevation.

The 44-year-old man and 41-year-old woman set out Sunday on a day trip but became trapped in heavy snow. They spent the night in a snow cave. The man was able to walk out far enough Monday morning to get a cell phone signal and contact his daughter. She gave his GPS coordinates to the sheriff's office.
