COLFAX, Wash. —

A Whitman County jury convicted a man of unlawful disposal of human remains Thursday but deadlocked on kidnapping and murder charges.

The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/Yi5fdQ) the judge declared a mistrial.

Prosecutor Denis Tracy says 21-year-old Daniel Lazcano will be re-tried on the felony charges. He'll be sentenced March 8 on the human remains misdemeanor.

Lazcano is accused of helping his brother Frank Lazcano kill 23-year-old Marcus Schur of Rosalia in December 2011 in retaliation for a burglary.

Frank Lazcano's trial begins Monday in Colfax.
