SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. —

Gang violence is suspected in a shooting in a Spokane Valley parking lot Thursday night that put a driver in a hospital.

The Spokane County sheriff's office says it began as an altercation between people in two cars. One drove away but stopped in the Hobby Lobby parking lot.

KREM reports (http://bit.ly/13t6JBx) shots were fired from the other car as it drove by.

The wounded man is said to have non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said the people involved may have gang ties or gang affiliation. The Spokane Violent Crimes Gang Enforcement Team is investigating.
