The Snohomish County Council has voted unanimously to remove County Executive Aaron Reardon's control of operation of the county's computers and other technology.
The 5-0 Wednesday morning vote comes after The (Everett) Herald previously reported links between Reardon staffers and public records requests and other actions targeting the executive's political enemies.
Oversight for the county's information and technology department will shift from Reardon to County Auditor Carolyn Weikel.
A statement last week from Reardon said a member of his staff was behind the public records requests. The statement said the staffer's actions were his own and not at Reardon's direction.
