Workers using a tower crane to build a 304-unit apartment complex in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood have run into a complication: two raccoons climbed 150 feet up the crane and made a home behind the crane's cab.

KING-TV reports (http://is.gd/ntbMII) that has temporarily brought the giant machine to a halt.

A crane operator spotted the new residents while ascending the tower Wednesday. The general contractor, Rafn Company, called in experts who are trying to catch the critters with humane traps.

Project superintendent John Kellberg says this is a first for him.

KING reports that neighbors say large raccoons are common in Ballard.

The apartment complex is due to open in the summer of 2014.
