Everett Herald sold to Sound Publishing

SEATTLE —

The Washington Post Company has announced the sale of the Daily Herald of Everett to a community newspaper company.

The sale to Sound Publishing was announced Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Sound Publishing bought the alternative newspaper Seattle Weekly. The publishing company operates 39 community newspapers around Washington and northern Oregon with a combined circulation of more than 730,000. Its printing facility is located in Everett.

Sound Publishing is a subsidiary of Vancouver, British Columbia-based Black Press Ltd.

Black Press publishes more than 170 newspapers and other publications in British Columbia, Alberta and Washington state, as well as the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and the Akron Beacon-Journal in Ohio.
