PUYALLUP, Wash. —

A Pierce County sheriff's spokesman says a Puyallup (PEW-al-up), Wash., school bus with elementary school children aboard crashed Tuesday afternoon after shots were fired nearby.

KOMO-TV reports that no one was injured in the crash. About 20 children were taken off that bus and taken away in another bus.

Detective Ed Troyer says investigators originally believed the bus had been hit by a shot but later corrected their report.

A car involved in the incident reportedly fled the scene.

Puyallup is southeast of Tacoma.

Additional details were not immediately available.
