BREMERTON, Wash. —

Fire officials in south Kitsap County, Wash., say a woman who fell asleep while smoking blistered the soles of her feet when she tried to stomp out the ensuing fire in her carpet.

The Kitsap Sun reports ( http://is.gd/cgyaZO) the elderly woman called 911 early Monday morning after stomping out most of the fire.

South Kitsap Fire and Rescue crews helped make sure the blaze was extinguished and cleaned up the burned carpet.

They treated the woman's blisters. She refused to go to a hospital.
