STANWOOD, Wash. —

Authorities say a man opened fire on an employee at an assisted living facility in Stanwood, Wash., injuring the worker.

North County Regional Fire Authority Battalion Chief Scott Johnston says the male shooter, a resident of the nursing home, is in police custody.

The shooting took place around 3 p.m. at Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood, about 50 miles north of Seattle.

Johnston says the male employee was in stable condition when he was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

He says the shooter, in his 80s, was apparently upset with the victim. He walked into the victim's office and shot him twice, hitting him once in the stomach.

An advisory sent by the city of Stanwood says the area was secure.
