A 34-year-old Seabeck man has been charged with child assault for an injury that left his girlfriend's 4-year-old daughter in grave condition.

Kitsap County authorities say Jason D. Reeser became frustrated while changing the girl's diaper Monday and pulled her onto the floor where she hit her head.

The Kitsap Sun reports ( http://bit.ly/XhVrxT) she had surgery at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma for a brain injury.

Reeser appeared in court Tuesday and is held on $750,000 bail.
