BREMERTON, Wash. —

Former King County Sheriff Steven Strachan (stran) and Jefferson County Sheriff Anthony Hernandez are among five candidates for the job of Bremerton police chief.

The Kitsap Sun reports (http://bit.ly/UkYGFZ) the new chief will replace Craig Rogers who retires in February after 37 years with the city, seven as chief.

The candidates are scheduled to appear at an open house Monday evening at the Norm Dicks Government Center in Bremerton.

The police chief position pays between $116,000 and $141,000 a year.
