TACOMA, Wash. —

Eight people have been taken to a hospital with breathing problems after a smoky fire at an assisted living center in Tacoma.

The fire broke out about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday in the kitchen on the second floor of the seven-story Life Manor Retirement Community.

KOMO reports ( http://bit.ly/143x1MH) about 150 residents were evacuated to a nearby church gym.
