Missing hiker in east Snohomish County

GOLD BAR, Wash. —

Rescuers are responding to an emergency beacon alert from a missing hiker in eastern Snohomish County.

KIRO-TV reports ( http://bit.ly/13GYtkk) the alerts began around 10:30 Wednesday night from the 2,400-foot elevation of Mount Persis, which is off the Stevens Pass Highway east of Gold Bbar.

The hiker is described as a 39-year-old man from Seattle.

A mountain rescue team and helicopter waited for daylight Thursday to begin the search.
