A number of recent gray whale sightings in Puget Sound could be the same animal, making the rounds as it looks for food.

The whale was sighted Tuesday in Tacoma. And whale sightings were reported by squid fishermen Sunday at a fishing pier in Edmonds and Dec. 28 at a fishing pier in Tacoma.

Orca Network spokesman Howard Garrett says there were no new reports Wednesday morning. He says if there's only one gray whale in Puget Sound now, it's getting around pretty well.

Typically, a few gray whales take time out from their annual migrations between Alaska and Mexico and linger in Washington waters. Two or three die each year because they're sick or malnourished.

Garrett says no one knows if this whale is in trouble or just curious.
