TACOMA, Wash. —

Tacoma Public Utilities says a concrete chunk from an old highway overpass has fallen, punching a hole in a street and in a Tacoma Water main, affecting water service in the area.

A utilities spokeswoman said several businesses in the South Tacoma Way area near Sprague Avenue were without water service Friday afternoon.

The utility cautions people who live and work in the area to report any water that looks dirty - and to avoid drinking it.

Spokeswoman Nora Doyle says the chunk fell from an old State Highway 16 overpass.
