OLYMPIA, Wash. —

Just days before Gov. Chris Gregoire is set to leave office, she witnessed the unveiling of her official portrait that will hang alongside other former governors in the state Capitol.

The portrait was revealed Friday during a ceremony in the Capitol's state reception room. Joining Gregoire was her family, and Sammamish artist Michele Rushworth.

The first photo shoot for the portrait was done in April, followed by consecutive shoots. The portrait shows Gregoire standing at her desk in her office, with a view of the Temple of Justice seen out of the window behind her. On the desk is a stand of 22 coins to signify Gregoire as the state's 22nd governor. Gregoire gives her final speech as governor on Tuesday, and leaves office on Wednesday after Gov.-elect Jay Inslee is sworn in.
