An overnight shooting at a Sumner motel left one person dead and three injured.

KOMO-TV reports ( http://is.gd/fbJi4U) that it happened just after 12 a.m. Sunday outside the Sumner Motor Inn. Police say a group of construction workers from California were outside smoking when two people drove up, said something to them and opened fire before speeding off.

A 23-year-old man was shot in the head and killed. Three others were seriously injured.

Police and medics arrived almost immediately, and the three injured victims were rushed to the hospital. One was hit in the abdomen, another in the arm and abdomen, and the third in the leg. There was no immediate word on their conditions.

Police say the victims did not know the suspects.
