The University of Washington library used a deep freeze to dispatch bedbugs that had made their home in some architecture books.
Preservation librarian Stephanie Lamson says there were two incidents in August when staff checking in books noticed black spots that turned out to be little blood-suckers.
The buggy books were treated in a Seattle museum freezer at 18 degrees below zero to kill the pests.
The books had been returned to library at Built Environments, formerly known as architecture. They apparently came from a student who had a severely infested home.
Lamson says she sick of bedbugs, especially after the attention the library is getting from a New York Times story. She says you shouldn't be afraid of your library, because there's a very low bedbug risk.
