A section of a downtown Seattle street was closed for about two hours Monday evening after a report of a suspicious package placed in a public trash bin.
Police Detective Jeff Kappel says Third Avenue near University Street was reopened to traffic after the item was examined and determined to be harmless.
Arson and bomb squad investigators responded. Kappel tells The Seattle Times the investigators were able to determine through a scan that the item was not dangerous. He didn't say what was found.
