JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. —

A 24-year-old soldier killed when an Afghani intelligence officer detonated a vest inside a military complex has been remembered at a memorial service at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Military officials say Spc. Brittany B. Gordon of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Oct. 13, in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when the suicide bomber attacked. Gordon and other soldiers were delivering furniture to an intelligence office when the explosion happened.

Gordon's family, friends and fellow soldiers gathered for the memorial Wednesday. Her father sobbed as he touched his daughter's embroidered name on her helmet.

Gordon was a member of the 2nd Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division.
