A clinical psychologist hired by defense lawyers for Erik Meiser has testified that the man charged in the machete slaying of a suburban Portland man is delusional.

Defense psychologist Henry Miller testified Friday in Circuit Court that the 37-year-old man's view of the world is not rational. The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/7vwK25) that Meiser refused to speak with the prosecution's psychologist as scheduled this week although by the end of Friday's hearing he reportedly agreed to do so.

Judge Eve Miller issued a temporary order prohibiting Meiser from speaking to reporters. She said the news coverage could affect his ability to receive a fair trial.

The judge is not related to the psychologist.

Meiser is charged with aggravated murder in the Sept. 17 stabbing death of Fritz Hayes in Lake Oswego, Ore.

Cowlitz County, Wash., sheriff's officers have said Meiser is a person of interest in the stabbing death of Nick Fickett last July in southwest Washington.
