A man wounded by a sheriff's deputy after a bank robbery in Stanwood is also suspect in three other bank holdups.
A search warrant obtained by The Daily Herald ( http://is.gd/fPKBsp) says 54-year-old Todd Richard Kirkpatrick of Anacortes is likely the "Phony Pony Bandit" who hit banks in Bellingham, Mount Vernon and La Conner since July.
Kirkpatrick was wearing a black wig tied in a ponytail when he was shot multiple times by a deputy Sept. 25 as he fled the Stanwood robbery. He's in Harborview Medical Center in Seattle but doesn't want his condition released.
Kirkpatrick has not been booked or charged.
The Herald reports Kirkpatrick was a developer who bought waterfront property in Anacortes a decade ago and has had financial and legal problems in recent years.
