COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho —

A team of investigators from several agencies is investigating Saturday's violence in Coeur d'Alene.

The Kootenai County sheriff's office says it began with a man shooting another man in the chest. The sheriff's office says he fired at other people as he sped away and was killed in a shootout with Coeur d'Alene police.

The dead man is identified as 19-year-old Christian Nicholas Buquet of Hayden, also known as Christian Nicholas Mallon. He has a record for an attempted robbery arrest last year.

Investigators don't know why he shot 29-year-old Frank James. James was taken to a hospital with a chest wound for emergency surgery.

Police chased the gunman for five miles until his car spun out. He was killed in an exchange of gunfire with police.
