NASHVILLE, Tenn. —

A new movie digs into the Christian theological debate over hell and who's going there.

The documentary "Hellbound?" by filmmaker Kevin Miller premiered last week in Nashville and opens Friday in New York.

It struggles with questions of punishment and redemption and how culture affects and shapes beliefs about God and the Bible.

The film was shaped in part by the controversy last year surrounding pastor Rob Bell's book "Love Wins," which questioned the mainstream evangelical Christian concept of hell.

Miller believes our ideas about hell have a real-world effect on the way we live our lives and the way we relate to others.
