OLYMPIA, Wash. —

Police in Tumwater, Wash., say the manager of the Tumwater Inn & Suites found a 3-year-old toddler wandering alone in his pajamas on the sidewalk.

Detective Jen Kolb says police were able to return the child to his parents about 2 1/2 hours later when they came to the police station Friday to report the child missing.

Kolb tells The Olympian ( http://is.gd/PS0TPS) that the parents are long-term guests of the inn and recently moved to the area from out of state.

Kolb says the boy somehow walked out of his parents' room without anyone noticing.

The detective says Child Protective Services was notified and police reports are being forwarded to the Thurston County prosecutor for review. She says something needs to be done to make sure the child doesn't wander again.
