A Snohomish County sheriff's spokeswoman say a man fleeing from deputies ran barefoot across Interstate 5 near Stanwood, Wash., and was clipped by a car traveling an estimated 60 miles per hour.
Spokeswoman Shari Ireton says the 25-year-old man was hit by the vehicle's side mirror Friday night. He was taken to a hospital where he's listed in serious condition.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Keith Leary tells KOMO-TV ( http://is.gd/zHWEDy) the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Ireton says deputies had been called to a home on a domestic violence complaint. They were trying to handcuff the man when he took off.
A portion of northbound I-5 in the area was temporarily closed. The driver who hit the man was not ticketed.
