EVERETT, Wash. —

A Lynnwood, Wash., police spokeswoman says an officer who suffered multiple pelvic fractures in an 18-foot fall down an embankment has undergone surgery for those injuries.

Officer Ryan Hoirup (Hi-rup) was struggling with a felony warrant suspect on Sunday evening when they both went over the embankment.

Spokeswoman Shannon Sessions says the officer came through Monday's surgery well.

He was reported in serious condition at a Seattle hospital.

The Daily Herald reports ( http://is.gd/XzeFPI) the 28-year-old, five-year veteran of the department was unable to move after the fall and had to be rescued by firefighters.

Other officers captured the 29-year-old suspect and jailed him for investigation of assault.
